Teens and adults that want straight teeth may consider orthodontics but don’t want the uncomfortable and noticeable metal in their mouth. Having straight teeth not only makes it easier to clean your teeth but instills self-confidence when you smile. The good news is that you can reap these benefits without all the metal. Today on our newest blog, find out why the choice is clear when you opt for Invisalign aligners for a perfect smile.
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign offers custom clear aligners that fit over your teeth, trimmed at the gum line, and apply specific pressure to gently shift teeth into proper alignment. This is the same concept with traditional metal braces but instead can be done by swapping clear aligners for a new set every couple of weeks. Each set of aligners applies pressure differently than the previous set. Your teeth may feel a little sore when switching to a new set of aligners, but that discomfort should subside within a couple of days. During your consultation with our Invisalign provider, Dr. Christine Tenaglia, she uses 3D technology to develop a smile design plan, determine the number of aligners that you will need, and approximately how long your treatment should take to achieve results.
How do you wear Invisalign aligners?
Invisalign aligners should be worn at least 22 hours a day, only removing them when you eat or need to brush and floss your teeth. Dr. Tenaglia also recommends removing your aligners when you drink any beverage other than water so that you do not trap sugar or acids in the aligners that could damage your dental enamel. Otherwise, wear your aligners day and night, cleaning them twice per day with the recommended cleaning solution.
How long does it take to get results with Invisalign?
Each case varies, but many Invisalign wearers achieve results in as little as 12-18 months, so long as they adhere to their treatment plan and wear their aligners as prescribed. If, however, you do not wear your aligners consistently, you could delay your results. Throughout treatment, you will meet with Dr. Tenaglia for checkups to ensure you remain on track with your treatment and to pick up a new set of aligners.
How much does Invisalign treatment cost?
Invisalign treatment cost varies, depending on the number of aligners that you will need and the length of treatment. During your consultation, Dr. Tenaglia will let you know your treatment cost. Keep in mind that there are several ways to pay for your treatment. Tenaglia Smiles offers third-party financing through CareCredit and Lending Club. In some cases, applicants may qualify for zero interest. If you have an HSA or FSA account, consider using those funds to help pay for your Invisalign treatment. Additionally, some dental insurance plans may help cover a portion of your bill. At Tenaglia Smiles, we are here to help make your smile dreams come true and are happy to discuss payment options with you upon request.
