General dentistry refers to non-specialized maintenance, such as dental cleanings and filling, root canals and dental bridges. These procedures are usually medically necessary but may not affect the appearance of your teeth.

Cosmetic dentistry consists of procedures that aren't always necessary but provide a revitalized appearance to your smile. Some procedures, like Orthodontics and Invisalign, can improve the overall function of your mouth. It also includes crowns, implants, veneers, and whitening. Reconstructive dentistry includes procedures that improve the structural and mechanical function of your mouth. This includes TMJ or TMD treatment.
