Dr. Tenaglia always makes sure to provide the highest standards of safety for her patients.
The State of MI Radiation Safety inspector popped into our office today unannounced to check the safety of our dental x-ray equipment. We of course passed with flying colors becauseThis was a very important inspection for our office and our patients because dental x-rays are used on all of our patients. Dental x-rays are a useful diagnostic tool used by Dr. Tenaglia to detect damage and disease not visible during a regular dental exam.
Many patients are concerned about the safety of dental x-rays. These few bits of information may help put you at ease when you are getting x-rays in the future. Did you know that a routine exam which includes 4 bitewings is less than one day of natural background radiation? It is also about the same amount of radiation exposure from a short airplane flight (1-2 hrs). Dr. Tenaglia goes one step further to provide optimal safety with digital x-rays. Digital x-rays use up to 90 percent less radiation than film x-rays. While conventional dental x-rays are safe, digital radiography is an excellent option for those who take x-rays on a regular basis or for those who are concerned about radiation exposure.
